Topic: What Pleases God – Review
Memory Verse: … ” So, whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please Him. 2 Corinthians 5:9. (NLT).
Text: Hebrews 11:5-6.
Spiritual Emphasis: There are some fundamental decisions that one should make in life. These decisions should be made even before any situation would arise to put the decision to test. As we begin the new year, have you considered who you would please? Is your goal in life to please God or to please men?
Making Pleasing God Your Goal In life
- Which is wiser and easier -Pleasing God or man – Matthew 11:18-19; Galatians 1:10; Acts 5:40-41.
- Live in a way that pleases God – Romans 12:1-2; 2 Timothy 2:3-4; Proverb 16:7; Colossians 1:10.
- Faith please God – Hebrews 11:1-3; Hebrews 11:6-7; John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:7; James 2:14-22.
- Obeying God’s command – Deuteronomy 12:28; 1 Samuel 15:22; Isaiah 1:19-20; Joshua 1:8-9; John 14:15-16.
- Magnifying God with Thanksgiving please God – Psalm 69:30-31; Psalm 50:14; Psalm 107:8-9; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Philippians 4:6-7.
- A broken spirit and contrite heart please God – Psalm 51:16-17; Psalm 34:18.
- A right choice, a right decision, a right speech, or a right prayer request please God -1 Kings 3:9-13; 1 John 5:14; Ephesians 5:10; Isaiah 56:4.
- Acceptable sacrifice (you and your gifts) please God – Romans 12:1 Philippians 4:18; Proverbs 11:25.
Questions/Activities: With all the distractions in the world today, how can a Christian live a life pleasing to God?
Conclusion. If you decide that your goal in life is to please God in all you do or say, you would have made one of the best decisions in life. It will simplify life for you and make you live an impactful and fulfilled life. In whatever situation you find yourself, whether it is convenient or not, make pleasing God your goal. Leave the rest to Him; He will handle the consequences of this righteous decision.
