As we begin the new year, have you considered who you would please? Is your goal in life to please God or to please men?

Making Pleasing God Your Goal In life

  • Magnifying God with Thanksgiving: You please God when you magnify Him with thanksgiving. Gratitude opens our spiritual eyes. There’s a beautiful cycle in giving God thanks: the more we thank Him, the more we see Him working in us and around us – Psalm 69:30-31; Psalm 50:14; Psalm 107:8-9; Colossians 1:9-14; Hebrews 13:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Philippians 4:6-7.
  • A broken spirit and contrite heart: A broken, and repentant heart pleases God. God is pleased with a heart that is broken, patient, restored, and obedient to Him – Psalm 51:16-17; Psalm 34:18.
  • A right choice, decision, or speech, or right prayer request: Find out what is acceptable to the Lord, do it and you will be pleasing Him – 1 Kings 3:9-13; 1 John 5:14; Isaiah 56:4; Ephesians 5:10.
  • Acceptable sacrifice (you and your gifts): Offering acceptable sacrifice to God pleases Him. Offer yourself to God first as a living sacrifice before you offer any gift to Him – Romans 12:1; Ezekiel 20:41; Philippians 4:18; Proverbs 11:25.

Questions/Activities: Is pleasing God difficult? (1 John 5:3)

Conclusion. If you decide to please God in all you do or say your goal in life, you would have made one of the best decisions. It will simplify life for you and make you live an impactful and fulfilled life. In whatever situation you find yourself, whether it is convenient or not, make pleasing God your goal. Leave the rest to Him; He will handle the consequences of this righteous decision.

Shalom!
