John The One Jesus Loved

John The One Jesus Loved

Text:   John 20:2-9, 19:38-40 (NIV)

Introduction-

Who was John?
Before joining Jesus, John was first with John the Baptist (as a disciple). We know that John the Baptist was Jesus’ forerunner; we can also say the two Johns prepared the way for Jesus. John was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ and a very close associate in that respect. He saw himself as the one Jesus loved, and others named him as such. It was recorded that John was the author of the gospel of John, the three Epistles of John, and the Book of Revelation.

Life Lessons:

  1. Close Relationship.

John had a very close relationship with Jesus. When the disciples heard the news of Jesus’ resurrection, John outran Peter to get to the sepulcher (John 20:4). The act depicts the relationship in place. John loved Jesus and wanted the cordial relationship to continue.

  1. A good disciple with Excellent Representation and Documentation.

It was evident that John loved Jesus and was very close to him. All accounts of events that he witnessed when with Jesus were perfectly documented for generations to see. Still, in John 20, It was recorded Who saw Jesus first after his resurrection and how his disciples confirmed that he was alive after all they saw three days prior. John declared Jesus the Messiah, the son of God, and whoever believes in His name will have life (John 20:30-31). Jesus performed many signs in the presence of the disciples, which were not recorded.

  1. Revelations
John received revelations of things to come from our Lord. Jesus will return with the clouds, and everyone will see him (Rev1:7). Only those with genuine love receive from whom they love; John witnessed a lot while with Jesus, and many heavenly revelations were shown to him when Jesus ascended to heaven.

Life applications

  1. How Close Are We to The One We Claim That We Love?

We can learn from John how closely he watched his master and how respectful and obedient he was.

  1. How Well Do We Represent?

If we claim to love, we must be bold enough to declare what we know about whom we love, what we love, and what we identify with. Good representation is very crucial. There is an adage that says, ‘People will see your subject the way you present it.’

  1. Have You Been Receiving Visions?

The more you move closer to the one you love, the more you know about them. What are those aspirations and revelations that were given? Are you writing them down? Habakkuk 2:2-3 Joel 2:28-32.

You must receive if you genuinely believe.

Lesson of the Day

Jesus lives, and He is ready to be a friend to anyone who believes in him and even reveals the secret of things to come.
