Esther Walked with God

TEXT: GEN 11:26

Text: Esther 4:13-16; Esther 7:2-3; Heb.4:16; Esther 3-9.

Introduction

Esther was an orphan, who grew up with Mordecai but found favor with the king. Esther declared fasting and prayer among the Jewish people to seek God’s face and turns around the evil plot against the Jews. Likewise, Jesus came in form of man and sacrifice himself to safe mankind from total damnation and reconcile mankind back to God the Father.

3 LIFE LESSONS

  • Position- The place you are or position you find yourself is for a purpose to fulfil an assignment that will come your way. Mordecai had to remind Esther that being the queen at a time like this is for the assignment that needs your intervention.
  • Prayer and Petition- Esther knew this assignment to safe the Jews can only be done with joint effort in the place of prayer for deliverance. Esther asked the people to fast and that she and her maids will also fast and the petition to God is for her to be favored by the king to enable her to make a request to upturn the evil decree to be announced by the king
  • Boldness- Esther was bold in her assignment to know that if God grants her favor with the king, then she can enter boldly and speak of what can save the life of the Jewish people and she was ready to die and face the consequence if the king refuses.

3 LIFE APPLICATIONS

  • Do you use your position to oppress, torment or to save the people God placed around you, we need to come to that level as Mordecai said do you know you are in that palace for a time like this. It is God who knows the end from beginning and know the reason he placed you there. We should learn and delight in helping those that come to us.
  • Prayer is a weapon that we can use to communicate our inadequacies to the Lord. When challenges seem overwhelming and seems no solution, let us take it to God in prayer and wait to hear solution, Let God be at the Centre of the solution for your petitions.
  • There is capacity and capability in you through Jesus to come boldly to God’s presence. Just like the king ask Esther what your petition is, Jesus is gracious and merciful to us and His saying ask anything in my name and I will do it Jn14:14.

Lesson of the day

Esther upturned the evil plan of Haman for the Jewish people in the place of prayer, Jesus is calling us to come boldly into His presence, argue our case with right motive and we will receive that which we have asked for James 4:2-3. Pray that His mercy will give us victory over our enemies so that God’s name can be glorified.
