What Jesus Says About Becoming Like A Child to Enter The Kingdom

What does Jesus say about becoming like a child to enter the kingdom.

Text: Matthew 18:1-5

Introduction: In Matthew 18:1-5 we saw Jesus, liken the kingdom of Heaven to a child of His delight. Meaning, for us to be the greatest in the kingdom or citizens of heaven we must be humble, trusting, and be obedient as a child.

 

Life Lessons from Matthew 18:1-5 

  1. Discipline:  Orientation, patient and focus can help build discipline which allowed us to succeed in any task. To maintain the flow of success the right daily habit most be set in place, develop the right mindset, thereby enabling us to set the right objectives. Proverbs 10:17, Psalm 94 :12, Deuteronomy 8: 5-6.
  2. Honesty: Is a vital trait in a person of integrity; Hebrew 13:18. God need us to be truthful even when it is very hard; John 8:32 and to develop the ability to differentiate between right and wrong and good and bad; Proverbs 6:16-20.
  3. Confidence: It is said that being confident is having positive self-esteem. It has a strong correlation to your behavior, happiness, and growth in life.  Philippian 1:6, Jeremiah 17:7, Hebrew 4:16.

 

LIFE APPLICATIONS (3)

  1. In Genesis 1:28 God calls us into greatness in His kingdom and it does not come from human accomplishment but from receiving and sharing the grace of God. Our ambition for greatness is healthy but the aim or motive are wrong Proverbs 14:12. True greatness is found in serving. It is doing the work to lift others up and helping them be successful.
  2. In Matthew 18:3 Jesus was calling us back to our first love; Revelation 2:5, that is for us to turn around and become as little child if we must enter the kingdom of Heaven. It is also a warning to us for those trading on the wrong path toward becoming the greatest. Replace power with service.
  3. In Proverbs 3:5-6 we are call to position of trusting and obedience to our Heaven Father just like a child. Trust God for all His promises in the Bible and activating them by faith. Isaiah 1:19 a life of complete obedience will cause us to eat the good of the land.

 

LESSON OF THE DAY: 

 When we adopt a humble position, it helps us to stay grounded. Luke 18:14b – explain this to us clearly: “For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
