What Jesus Says About Correcting Fellow Believers

What Jesus Says About Correcting Fellow Believers
Day 8

Topic: What does Jesus say about Correcting Fellow Believers.

Text:  Matthew 18:15-17

INTRODUCTION.

God knew offences will come   but, in his mercies, he made available forgiveness and correction for us.

Is it easier for you to give or receive correction? Some would rather give than receive correction. Most of us hate correction but our Lord Jesus is our perfect example in correcting us and in correcting one and another. Prov 29:1,15:10

It is hard to take correction due to pride but there are areas of our life that we need to work on. Prov 10:8

With this teaching, Jesus is going to show us how to correct one and another in the right way/path.

 LIFE LESSONS

(1) Jesus corrected us in love. Eph. 4:1-2, Col. 3:1

(2) Jesus corrected us through the act of forgiving us ahead, even when we didn’t deserve it. Col. 3:13

(3) He was patient with us in kindness to redirect us to our first love.

(4) He was not judgmental of our wrongs. Eph. 4:1, Matt. 18:15

LIFE APPLICATIONS

1)We must correct in love and kindness. 1 Pet. 4:8. Gal. 6:1

2) We must correct based on the Word of God. Eph. 4:31-32;2 Tim. 3:16-17

3) We must correct with the right motive. 2 Tim. 4:2, l kings 17:3-4

4) We must not be judgmental.  Matt. 7:1, Lev. 19:17

5) We must do it prayerfully. Gal. 6:1,2 Thess. 3:15
