Memory Verse: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63 – (NKJV)
Text: Isaiah 55:6-13.
Spiritual Emphasis: Every believer should apply God’s word to his or her life and practice its tenets. To get the best from the Word of God, approach it with humility, meditate on it constantly, and act on its teachings rather than just hearing it. Storing Scripture in your heart guards against sin, while studying it brings guidance, strength, and life-changing wisdom to every situation.
Attitude Towards God’s Word
- You should desire it as a standard of living and a means to personal spiritual development –1 Pet.2:2, Psa.19:7-10.
- You should study it on a daily and regular basis. It will help you handle and tackle each day better – 2 Tim.2:15, 2 Tim.3:16-17.
- You should search through it regularly and as needed, in order to find answers, counsels and God’s will concerning your life, situations and challenges – Acts 17:11, Jer.15:16.
- It is good to meditate on God’s word as a habitual practice. It’s the only way it can profit you – Jos.1:8, Psa.1:1-3, 1 Tim.4:15.
- It is equally good to commit it to heart by memorizing its content and then it becomes an integral part of your thinking, reasoning and life – Psa.40:8, Col.3:16.
- You should desire to teach or explain it to other people, especially to your families, to unbelievers, to heretics and to the weak at heart – Matt.28:18-20.
- You must of a necessity be a doer of the word. No one gets rewarded for knowing what to do and don’t do it. Actively applying the word of God to your life is when God’s word will be meaningful in your life – Jam. 1:22-23, Rom.2:13.
