Spiritual Strength

Memory Verse:  Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand”. Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Bible Text: Joshua 1:1-7. 

Spiritual Emphasis: Every believer needs to develop spiritual strength so that he or she can stand the challenges of being a Christian. 

  1. Why Christian Need Spiritual Strength?
  • He needs strength in order to overcome infirmities and weaknesses that are antithesis to victory. 1 Cor.12:7-11, Heb.11:32-34.
  • He needs strength in order to preach the gospel which is the grand obligation of every Christian. 2 Tim.4:17.
  • He needs strength to make manifest and fulfill the promises of God. Heb.11:17-19, Rom.4:19-21.
  • He needs strength in order to be a ready source of strength to other believers. Lk.22:32, Psa.51:12-13.
  1. Sources of Spiritual Strength
  • Faith: The Christian must desire to actively increase and improve his faith. Heb.10:23, 11:11, Jude1:20-21.
  • Grace: Without grace a Christian cannot do much. 2 Cor.3:5, 12:9, Phil.4:13.
  • The Holy Spirit: We need to know how to embrace the Holy Spirit as our strengthener. Eph.3:16, Col.1:11.
  • Other Believers: Just as much as he needs to be strong for others, he needs others to be strong for him. Job.4:3-4, 16:5, Gal.6:1.
  • Waiting on The Lord: To wait indicates allowing God a place to coordinate our lives. Isa.40:28-31, Psa.27:14.

Question(s): How can a believer best wait on God? Explain with scriptures.

                How can we draw strength from each other as believers? Explain with scriptures.

Conclusion

The Christian is a spiritual being hence, he will achieve a far more effective living if he has spiritual strength.  The Lord expects every Christian to build up spiritual strength so that he will be able to stand in the moment of evil. May the Lord continue to strengthen you as we see the days of the Lord approach.
