INTRODUCTION

  1. WHO IS JOSIAH THE KING?

He was the 16th king of Judah. Born in 648 BC. Became king at 8 years old, and reigned for 31 years. His Father is king Amon of Judah who was said to be an idolatrous king, reigned for 2 years and was assassinated in 641 BC. His mother’s name is JEDIDAH the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath..

  1. QAULITIES OF KING JOSIAH

He walked with God like David his forefather. On the 12th year of his reign, he purged Judah and Jerusalem of high places and images. He brought down to pieces and powder, Baal and Asherah and burn the bones of the priest who served them. He broke down all incense and altars in Israel. On the 18th year of his reign, he purged the land and repaired the house of the Lord. The book of the Lord was found while rebuilding the temple and he read it to the people. He rent his cloth on hearing that God is angry with the people. He made them to have covenant with the Lord to keep His commandments, testimony and statutes with all their hearts and souls. Then God promised him peace during his reign.

LIFE LESSONS (3)

 1) QUALITIES OF A GOOD LEADER

  • Seek the Lord and his direction early. Spiritually connect to God’s word and his ways.
  • Do not be wise in your own understanding.
  • Make use of godly people around you to accomplish God ‘s work. Josiah used the builders, the priest, the money etc.

2) HUMILITY, FIRMNESS AND SINCERITY

Josiah was humbled to learn the ways of the Lord and made influence on the people he was ruling.

He was firm to correct what needs to be corrected.

He was sincere to God’s way.

3) GOD REWARDS RIGHTEOUSENESS. He had peace in the days he was ruling the people.

LIFE APPLICATIONS (3)

1) SEEK THE LORD

We all are leaders in every level we found ourselves. We should develop ourselves by praying better and studying the word of God. Read wide about your environment, what happened in the past and what is happening now. How do I contribute to solving the situation? Stand in the gap for your people.

2) SHOW GODLY INFLUNCE IN YOUR HOME AND PLEASE THE LORD.

Do not play with sin.

Ways to please the Lord include: obey His word, have faith in Him, be spiritual, fear God, study his word, obey him, and give yourself for his service.

3) MAINTAIN RIGHTOUSNESS AND GOD WILL REWARD YOUR HOME.

2 Corinthians 5: 9-11 Please the Lord, and fear the Lord (Proverbs 16:9).

Plan your life and allow God to direct your steps (Psalms 147:11). The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him and hope in His steadfast love.

LESSON OF THE DAY:

Everyone is a leader wherever you are. God wants you to be like Josiah, a Godly influence, righteous, oriented and God’s fearing person.
