Memory Verse: …” ‘But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’ – Matt. 6:33 (NIV)
Text: Luke 5:1-11
Spiritual Emphasis: Following Jesus Christ and His Kingdom should be our top priority. The focus should be on the biblical directive to seek God’s rule above all else. Children, we are challenged to move past earthly expectations, realign our priorities, and actively participate in advancing God’s kingdom on earth through grace, service, kindness, compassion, and love.
A Call to Follow Jesus Christ
- Jesus is the Only Way to God: While the world offers many different “ways” to find peace or salvation, Jesus offers Himself as the single, sure path that removes the separation between us and God – John 14:5-6.
- The “Way” is Narrow but Certain: Following Jesus means prioritizing loving-kindness, forgiveness, and active compassion – even when it goes against cultural norms – Matt. 7:13-14; Rom. 12:2.
- Living the “Way” Daily: To walk in “The Way”, we must surrender our own plans and rely completely on Jesus Christ. It means embodying His love, and extending His grace to others – Prov.3:5-6; John 14:15-18.
Question: 1. In what areas of your life are you currently trying to find your own “way” rather than following Jesus?
2. How can we lean more into a relationship with Jesus, rather than just treating Him as a teacher or a rulebook?
Conclusion:
Thomas wanted a map (John 14:5), but Jesus offered him a relationship. He is inviting us to walk with Him daily, trusting that He leads us to eternal life and provide peace here on earth. Children, lets step out in faith today, fixing our eyes on Jesus daily, thereby leaving victorious life and at the same time drawing men and women to Christ in loving-kindness.
Shalom!
