Caleb

Caleb

Text: Numbers 14:24 (NLT); Numbers 13:20 (NLT); Numbers 14:6-9 (NIV); Numbers 13:30 (NIV).

Introduction:

CALEB- He was a man who lived as most of us would like to live- putting his faith in God to handle the dangers around him. The story of Caleb appeared in the book of Numbers after the Israelites had escaped Egypt and arrived at the border of the promised land.

LIFE LESSONS:

  1. He walked in faith, stood apart from the crowd, and looked for the hand of God in every situation. Numbers 14:6-9 NIV
  2. Caleb asked, ‘where is God in this? What is he trying to do and teach me? He made statements like, I must deal with this in faith! and we are well able.
  3. Caleb wasn’t surface, shallow, or small-minded. He was a man of content, character, and commitment. Numbers 13:30

LIFE APPLICATIONS:

  1. Trust God in all situations
  2. Be loyal in your service to God.
  3. Hold still to your faith no matter the situation you find yourself.

LESSON OF THE DAY:

Caleb knew that when God gave him a task to do, God would supply him with all he needed to complete that mission. Caleb spoke up for the truth, even when he was in the minority. Often, to stand up for the truth we must stand alone. We can learn from Caleb that our weakness brings an outpouring of God’s strength. Caleb teaches us to be loyal to God and to expect him to be loyal to us in return.
