Life Lessons/Life applications

  • The Importance of Listening and Obedience– 1Sam 3:10

Looking at the life of Samuel, Samuel consistently demonstrated the importance of listening to God throughout his life. Drawing from Samuel’s life, a key life application is to prioritize listening to God and demonstrating obedience to His guidance. This means actively seeking and tuning into divine direction in our lives and choosing to follow that path, even when it contradicts our personal plans or societal norms. It’s about developing a relationship with God where His will is paramount and trusting in His wisdom over our own understanding. Samuel’s leadership was deeply intertwined with his spiritual life. He didn’t rely solely on his wisdom or strength but was guided by his relationship with God. His leadership was effective and respected because it was a direct extension of his faithfulness and obedience to God. Proverbs 16:20 Just as Samuel listened to God’s voice, take time to seek God’s guidance in your decisions, big or small. This might involve prayer, meditation on Scripture, or seeking counsel.

  • Dedication and Service– Samuel’s dedication was not just a matter of fulfilling duties; it was a wholehearted commitment to God and to his role as a leader, prophet, and judge, embodying a life lived in service to God and his people 1 Sam 3:19-20. Colossians 3:23.His life was dedicated to God even before he was born (1 Sam 1:27-28) As believers we are created for God purpose and for his glory.
  • You are just right– Samuel never let ‘too young’ or ‘too small’ become ‘not yet’ or ‘maybe later.’ Whether we’re young, old, or somewhere in between, there’s work to be done. His journey encourages to unwrap the God given potientinal we’ve shelved, and to step into the roles God has carved out for us now. His leadership, blooming even in tender youth, reminds us that our capacity to serve and to lead isn’t bound by the number of candles on our birthday cake.
