Text: Hebrews 11:5-6.
Spiritual Emphasis: There are some fundamental decisions that one should make in life. These decisions should be made even before any situation would arise to put the decision to test. As we begin the new year, have you considered who you would please? Is your goal in life to please God or to please men?
Making Pleasing God Your Goal In life
- Which is wiser and easier – Pleasing God or human beings – The truth is you can’t please human beings. It is a futile effort. As you’re trying to please one person, you’re displeasing others – Matthew 11:18-19; Galatians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 2:4; John 12:41-43; Ephesians 6:6; John 8:29; Acts 5:29; Acts 5:40-41.
- Live in a way that pleases God – As a child of God, you should live in a way that pleases God – Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonian 4:1; Galatians 5:19-21; Proverbs 16:7; 2 Timothy 2:3; 2 Timothy 2:4; Colossians 1:10.
Questions/Activities: Where do I start when it comes to pleasing God?
Conclusion. If you decide to please God in all you do or say your goal in life, you would have made one of the best decisions. It will simplify life for you and make you live an impactful and fulfilled life. In whatever situation you find yourself, whether it is convenient or not, make pleasing God your goal. Leave the rest to Him; He will handle the consequences of this righteous decision.
