Day 7
Topic: What Jesus says about Offenses?
Text: Matthew 18:6-9
LIFE LESSONS
- Offenses will come- This is basically saying to us that the tendency to offend is part of the DNA of man and a part of life in general.
- Woe to the person who offends- This is basically saying to us that a person who offends another is already judged. So that you the offended do not need to take matters into your hands at all.
- From the Bible verses it becomes obvious that offenses/ temptations do not come only from other people but we ourselves can be a source of offense/temptation to our souls. That is why in verses 8&9 it says- your hand or foot, your eyes. So, we need to pay attention so that we are not the cause of our own misery or woes.
LIFE APPLICATIONS
1.As children of God we should not be the source of offense/temptation to anyone because now that we have a new DNA in Christ Jesus. We have to be constantly conscious of the leading of the Holy Spirit. We should learn to keep in step with Him; Gal 5 (16) Amp
- There is a consequence for being the source of an offense/ temptation. So as soon as we realize that we have committed an offense or temptation we need to repent and make it right by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
- You must by all means remove yourself from any offense/temptation- Matt 16(8&9)
LESSON OF THE DAY
In conclusion as children of God Jesus makes it very clear in these few verses that offenses/temptations coming from within or without are very grievous in the sight of God and it is not what a child of God should dabble into. May we constantly lean and learn from the Holy Spirit how best to handle ourselves in all situations we find ourselves in Jesus name. Amen!
