Text: Proverbs 6: 1-35
Introduction
The entire book of Proverbs is very rich and insightful; full of wise sayings, instructions and life principles helping with navigating the day-to-day affairs of life. Our focus is on Chapter 6 today, which provides practical and applicable wisdom for living a good and fulfilling life, that God intends for his people
Life Lessons–
- It is wise to live within your means and be prudent with your resources.
- What comes out of our mouths is very important and we need to be mindful of our utterances Prov 6 V 2 (also Prov 18v 21)
- There is a need to learn to make provision for the winter seasons of life (old age, job loss, etc.). It is also important to be intentional about plans for the future and cultivate a strong work ethic, as ants do in preparation for winter. Prov 6: 6 – 8
- It is important to be circumspect in our everyday dealings with people and not be entangled with fleshly indulgence that leads to lustful situations.
Life applications
- The word of God is practical and doable. He does not ask of us what we are not able to carry out.
- Prov 6:20 – 23. The word of God is all we need to succeed, and following the guidance is the guarantee of success. Joshua 1:8 connects with Prov. 6:20 – 23
Key word of the Day – God watches over his word to perform it and there is honor in hard work
