Review

  • Why we become exposed to deception: Isolation from the believing community, lack of love for the truth, undiscerning heart – 2 Thess. 2:10-12; 1 John 4:1; Heb. 10:25.
  • Why we have challenges: For spiritual growth, For God’s purpose, drawing us closer to God – James 1:12; Psalm 31:19; Psalm 32:8; 2 Cor. 12:9.
  • Why we fall into temptation: Lust & desire, spiritual neglect, pride & worldliness, bad choices, Satan’s influence, spiritual opposition – James 1:14-15; Rom. 7:18-25; Matt. 26:41; 1 Peter 5:8.
  • Why we doubt: Leaning on our own understanding; depending on our physical senses; fear, unbelief & rebellion, uncertainty – Prov. 3:5-6; Ps. 37:5; Jer.29:11; John 20:29; Isaiah 41: 10; 13-14; Isaiah 1:19-20; 1 Tim. 1:18-20; James 1:6; John 14:1.

Questions:   What do you think Jesus meant when He said in Matthew 24:22 -“if those days were not shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened”

Conclusion: Brethren, we should be vigilant, grounded in God’s Word, and seek discernment through the Holy Spirit. The path to overcoming deception is found in Jesus Christ, the truth.

Shalom!
