Memory Verse: …” …” You should learn more and more to do the things that please the Lord – Ephesians 5:10 (EasyEnglish).
Text: Romans 12:1-2
Spiritual Emphasis: Accepting His sacrifice and following Christ into grace is a key component of pleasing God. God does not want you to be a slave to sin and death. Accepting the gift of salvation that God offers to you is the greatest thing you can do to please Him. You don’t need to figure out on your own how to please God. He already made provision for that. All we need to do is follow His instructions and leading – Joshua 1:8-9.
Ways to Pleasing God
- Be Humble: This is another way to please the Lord. As we constantly study and submit to His Word, God keeps us humble and contrite. Never give room to pride, but always see yourself the way God see’s you – Isaiah 66:2; Proverbs 16:18; Ephesians 4:2-3; James 4:6; 10; 1 Peter 5:5-6.
- Look forward to a world where everything pleases God: Martin Luther wrote, “I would not give up one moment of Heaven for all the joys and riches of the world, even if they lasted for thousands and thousands of years.” As children of God, let always have the imagery of a new creation, new Heaven, a place where there is no more suffering and ‘the sound of weeping and crying will be heard no more’- Isaiah 65:17-25; Rev. 21:4; 1 Cor. 15:53; Rev. 22:5.
Question/Activity: How do we as Christians constantly fix our focus on the promise of eternal life, and not get distracted by the temporary pleasures of this world?
Conclusion: Pleasing God is, or should be, the goal of all believers- all who call upon the name of Christ for salvation. Our prayer should be; Lord, please fill me today and always with the Holy Spirit so that I may shine in a way that pleases You. Holy Spirit, you are my teacher and helper, please help me to make the most of every hour of every day, and may this wonderful promise of a new heaven and a new earth spur me on in my desire to live now in the ways that please You in Jesus Name Amen.
Shalom!
