Memory Verse: …” You should learn more and more to do the things that please the Lord – Ephesians 5:10 (EasyEnglish).
Text: Romans 12:1-2
Spiritual Emphasis: Accepting His sacrifice and following Christ into grace is a key component of pleasing God. God does not want you to be a slave to sin and death. Accepting the gift of salvation that God offers to you is the greatest thing you can do to please Him. You don’t need to figure out on your own how to please God. He already made provision for that. All we need to do is follow His instructions and leading – Joshua 1:8-9.
Ways to Pleasing God
- Live in the Light: As Christians, we are called to be a community whose conduct shines as a beacon to others, illuminating the way that God intended life to be lived. Light exposes evil. The best way to get rid of evil is to drag it into the light. Ask God to shine the light of the Holy Spirit into your heart today – Ephesians 5:8-14; Matt. 5:14-16; 1John 1:7; Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 3:5-6; 2 Cor. 4:6.
- Make the most of every opportunity: Time is your most valuable possession. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time. Use the time God has given you wisely to the glory of God. One way to make the most of every opportunity is the opportunity that today brings. At the end of service today, join the evangelism team to shine your light by telling folks out there about Jesus Christ – Ephesians 5:15-17; Col. 4:5-6; Psalm 90:12; Eccl. 9:10; Prov. 6:6-8; Gal. 6:10; John 9:4; Prov. 11:30.
Question/Activity: How do we as Christians make the most of every opportunity God gives us?
Conclusion: Pleasing God is, or should be, the goal of all believers- all who call upon the name of Christ for salvation. Our prayer should be; Lord, please fill me today with the Holy Spirit so that I may shine in a way that pleases You and help me to make the most of every hour of every day in Jesus Name Amen.
Shalom!
