Get Wisdom-7

Memory Verse: … “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding... Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV).

Text: Proverbs 3:13-35.

Spiritual Emphasis: The subject of wisdom is a theme that is woven throughout the fabric of the Scripture. Wisdom is found from the pages of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and everywhere in between. Wisdom is essential to God, and the Bible tells us wisdom is the principal thing, and we should get wisdom. Wisdom is not merely knowledge or intelligence, but the ability to discern God’s will and apply it to life, characterized by fear of the Lord, humility, and righteous living.

The Wisdom from above – James 3:17-18.

  • Is first Pure: It does not seek its own; but rather clean, chaste, modest, and free from defilements. It looks for what will help everyone – Matt. 5:8; Phil. 2:4.
  • Then Peaceful: Wise individuals actively seek to resolve disputes rather than provoke them, demonstrating a commitment to harmony and peace – Heb.12:14; Matt. 5:9; Eph. 4:31-32; Phil. 4:6-7.
  • Then Gentle: They are compassionate and understanding, making allowances for the weakness of others and avoiding harshness in their interactions – Phil. 4:5; Rom. 12:3.
  • Then easy to be entreated: Wise people are open to reason and willing to listen and cooperate when a better way is present – James 1:19-20.
  • Then Merciful and bearing good fruit: They actively seek to help those in need and are motivated by a desire to do good without selfish motive – Matt. 5:7; John 15:5; Gal. 5:22-23; Matt. 7:16-20; Matt. 3:10.

Question(s): How can we apply godly wisdom when faced with a compromising situation either at work or in your business?

Conclusion:

Wisdom is a choice, one that begins with the decision to trust Christ as Savior and increases as we follow the teachings of God’s Word. If we want to be wise, we must have a passion for the Lord’s guidance because there are many ideas, people, and situations that will tempt us to ignore scriptural principles.
