Day: 39
Text: Luke 18: 2-8
Introduction- Tenacity in the context of our teaching means the willingness of a believer to consistently wait/hold fast despite all negative incidences. The ability to remain in faith without wavering to receive from God what HE has promise HIS children. Consistency is the action displayed by the widow in the above parable. The widow was determined to get an answer from the unjust judge. She was helpless but was not discouraged, her identity, and her status in life was not a deterrent to asking what she wanted from the unjust king. The father and mothers of faith in the Bible waited patient to the promises of God and it surely came to pass in the lives – Abraham (Genesis 17:9), Job 42:10, Hanna 1Samuel 1:7 and so on).
Life Lessons:
- Trust in the Lord and believe that HE will do what He has promised in his Word to do. The Lord said that He is watching over every spoken Word of HIS to accomplish it (Jeremiah 1: 11-12). In the book of Habakkuk 2:3, the Lord said that there may be delay in the fulfilment of promises yet, it will surely come to pass. The Lord emphasized that we must totally trust HIM and not about our understanding nor what we think we know intellectually (Proverbs 3: 5-6).
- God’s timing is not human timing. God will fulfill all the promises that HE has made in HIS Word. We have an understanding that the WORD of the Lord has been from the beginning and the WORD is GOD (John 1:1-4). HE told us about his sovereignty that HIS thought and ways are totally different from us as human beings (Isaiah 55: 8-9).
- Obedience and commitment to the WORD of God. The Lord fulfills HIS promises when we are obedient to him and keep HIS commandments (1John 3:22, Deuteronomy 4:40). Obedience is better than sacrifice and this is very paramount if we must be blessed by God (1 Samuel 15:22). Disobedience is an act of rebellion towards God and will always lead to delay blessings. As believers we need to study the Word of God and align our lives with the Holy spirit for direction and guidance (2 Timothy 2:15).
Absolute and total commitment to the word of God is a requirement as a Christian Revelation 3 vs. 5. In Deuteronomy 4 vs. 1; there is an assurance that if we obey the Lord our God that he will bless us. Obedience to the word of God is the pathway to blessing.
Life applications:
- Faith. Faith is the driving force of a Christian.
The waiting room requires perseverance, patience and focus. Christian needs to be energetic and strengthened to finish gloriously. Hence, Christian needs to focus on God and strive for holiness, shunning sin, and avoiding distractions. Joshua realized that God is the source of his strength, and he needs to hear from Him daily. Brethren, we must ensure we communicate with our heavenly father minute by minute, do not take anything for granted. Christian needs to wait on the Lord so that He can coordinate our lives and usher us to our victories and inheritance Isaiah 40 vs. 28-31. The woman with the issue of blood held on to her faith and believed that Jesus Christ will heal her (Luke 8:42-48).
2 Dedication
Dedication requires us as Christian to be steadfast in prayers, fasting, and watchfulness Colossians 4 vs.2. We have needs and promises that must be fulfilled. When God told Abraham that he has promised him the Land of Canaan, He knew there will be obstacles and challenges; and He knew that they would conquer and possess the land. Therefore, as Christians, we need to keep fighting and forging on despite all situations because our Creator has promised us victory. God assured us that He is not a man that He will repent of his Word…. Numbers 23 vs. 19. Our God does not change; He is the Unchangeable changer Malachi 3 vs. 3. To be dedicated, we must be disciplined in studying the scriptures, praying, fellowshipping, and witnessing Joshua 1 vs. 8-9.
Lesson of the Day
Do not get Frustrated.
God promised Abraham in Genesis 12 that he will possess the land of Canaan, and the land will be an inheritance to his children; yet it was not a day’s journey. Let us continue to wait patiently and pray for God’s strengths as we wait on HIS promises and blessings (Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:31, Isaiah 41: 10, Philippians 4:13).
