Day 40
Topic: What Does Jesus Say About The End Times
Text: Matt. 24:3-14
INTRODUCTION:
Pertaining to the end times, Jesus does not want us to be ignorant or to be un-informed. Therefore, when His disciples asked Him “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age,?” He did not hesitate to educate them how to recognize the end times events, what signs to watch out for, and how to get prepared.
The “end of the age” refers to the end of the present era and the commencement of the next dispensation. It is the period that precedes the second coming of the Son of Man as the Righteous judge. The end of the age includes the rapture the great tribulation the second coming and the judgment of the nations, all of which help us usher in the age to come.
LIFE LESSONS
- Deception and Lawlessness will Abound
Jesus warned that many will be deceived by false teachers/prophets (v. 5, 11).
Hatred of believers, betrayals, and persecutions (v. 9-10).
Lawlessness (v. 12; 2 Tim. 3: 1-5).
- Geopolitical Conflicts and Natural Disasters will Increase
There will be wars and rumors of wars on national and international levels (v. 6-7).
Famines – Millions of people in the world today face food scarcity and starvation.
Pestilences – Outbreak of diseases (Covid-19, yellow fever, meningitis etc.
Earthquakes in many parts of the world.
But all these are just the beginning of labor pains – the beginning of sorrows (v. 8), will become more frequent and more intensive.
- The Preaching of the Gospel Will be the Last Sign
The persecution of Christians, deception by false prophets and deterioration of moral
principles and social injustices, will not prevent the spread of the gospel all over the world
(v. 14).
–as a witness to all the nations. Then the end will come.
LIFE APPLICATIONS
- Don’t be Deceived
Deception resulting to backsliding from the faith is one of the major signs of the end times
(see 1 Tim. 4:1-2). Don’t be a victim. Know the truth (John 8:32) and stick to it tenaciously.
The word of God, the Bible is the truth. How much of it do you know?
- Don’t be Troubled or Afraid
As a committed Christian, you got no reason to be worried or to be afraid of the end times.
Remember Jesus promise in John 14:1-3. You got the advantage of having knowledge of
the future events before they happen. So nothing should take you by surprise and
unprepared. Your heavenly Father has great plan for your future (Jer. 29:11).
- Hold Fast to What You Have
Rev. 3: 11 says “Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take
your crown.” Hold fast to your profession of faith without compromise, your love for Christ,
and being a faithful servant. Hold fast to being a vital part of spreading the gospel all over the
world.
