Day 25
Topic: What Does Jesus Say About Being Diligent
Text: Matthew 25:1-13.
Introduction
Our Lord Jesus was a spectacular teacher. He told the parable we read to teach the hearers and the readers about the importance of diligence.
It’s obvious that diligence is a virtue that speaks of excellence, watchfulness, and intentional focus.
Diligence should be the normal, the usual, and the habitual display of a Christian’s character at any given time. It is what a Christian should be quickly known for.
It is also one of the virtues that truly defines a Christian’s character and personality. Everywhere a Christian lives and work or relate in any form, one of the things the Christian must be known for is diligence.
A diligent Christian is a good ambassador of Christ. John 9;4, Philippians 3;14.
LIFE LESSONS
- A Christian must be focused on his or her election and calling. 2 Peter 1:10.
What God did for you as a Christian and He is still doing and will keep doing for you is for a purpose. And every Christian must be focused on living up to this purpose.
- Another lesson on diligence is the issue of fruitfulness. Diligence warrants been very fruitful. Why would a Christian not be fruitful? Every Christian has all that it takes for him or her to be always very fruitful everywhere, and all times. Genesis. 39;2; Genesis 39:23, Genesis 41; 52.
Scriptures records that Joseph lived a fruitful life even in very unfriendly situations because God was with him. Every Christian should handle all responsibilities of all sorts, both secular and spiritual with the spirit of diligence (fruitfulness).
- Another lesson is as a Christian you must make effort to keep been a diligent person always and at all times as Jesus was. I Corinthians. 15:58. NJKV. To be focused and fruitful will require some effort from you. There is no room for unfruitfulness in the life of a Christian. Titus. 3:14.
LIFE APPLICATIONS
- As much as possible avoid all forms of distraction that can make you veer of your focus as a Christian.
The 5 foolish virgins were not bad people, they did not even sin, but they simply got distracted from the focus for which they were waiting. Every Christian must possess and practice the attitude of been focused on purpose. Whatever you find yourself doing be focused on doing it. The focus of a Christian is twofold as it was for Jesus; to fulfill purpose on earth and in the kingdom of God.
- Stop making excuses or finding excuses for not been fruitful in whatever you engage in.
As we are waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus, be diligent (be fruitful) in your waiting. As you have a job to do in a secular organization be diligent, be the most fruitful. When you serve in the house of God, doing spiritual things in any capacity, be very fruitful. Col. 3:23.
No Christian should ever be lazy, slothful, or unfruitful in anything. The only exception is from doing evil and engaging in unrighteous deeds.
Diligence means you are to be exceptional in performance, in results, in impact and in productivity.
2. Let each day God gives you be an opportunity to abound in a good work.
Fruitfulness must be the daily focus and daily goal of every Christian. 1 Cor. 15;58 tells us how we can achieve that.
Be unmoveable; Not slowing down in effort or be shaken by situations because God is with you)
Be Steadfast: Keep forging forward and keep standing steadily on your convictions and goals because God is with you. Be resistant to all things that can distract, divert, and detract you from living God’s purpose.
Be abounding in the work of the Lord. And everything a Christian does is the work of the Lord, so keep pressing forward to be always more fruitful everywhere in all things and.
A Christian is a contributor to everywhere he or she engages, and a contributor to who He or she relates with.
LESSON OF THE DAY
There is a reward for being a diligent person and remaining diligent. Pro.22;29 NKJV. There is definitely a reward for all the efforts of been diligent. It may not be immediate, or it may not be from the person you might think should reward you, but certainly, you can be sure God will reward you in due time. It’s a guarantee for every Christian, God will reward your diligence.
