Day 23
Topic: What does Jesus say about our burden bearer
Text: Matthew 11: 28-30
Overview: Each of us bears one burden or the other; the daily demands of our work/job, parenthood, family obligations, etc, can be very demanding and overwhelming. Jesus reaches out to us through His words in Matthew 11:28-30, revealing to us that He can be Our Burden Bearer if only we will receive Him.
LIFE LESSONS
- An Invitation from Jesus to man– In our assigned text, Jesus Himself invites us to the life He has for us; He invites us to trust Him by surrendering all our anxieties, worries, burdens (spiritual, physical, financial, emotional, mental, etc.) to Him. He is ready to carry the weight for us because He cares for us, and He loves us. 1 Peter 5:7
- God’s Plan for Man- God’s intention/ plan for us is not to weigh us down, nor overwhelm us with life’s issues, rather, His plan for us is that we have Divine Peace inspite of the many obstacles we face. His Promise of a Great future for us is sure. Jeremiah 29:11
- God has a Purpose for Man– God’s purpose for us is not an unbearable one; He lets us know we don’t have to bear our burdens alone. When we accept Jesus as Our Burden Bearer, we become yoked to Him, because He will give us His easy yoke. Isaiah 58:6
LIFE APPLICATIONS
- God’s Promise of Salvation- As we surrender our lives to Jesus, He will give us His light yoke, the yoke of working for His Kingdom. By so doing, we exchange our burdens for Jesus’s peace. Revelations 3:20
- God’s Promise of Divine Rest– Inspite of the various difficult situations we face, God lets us know that He is ever ready and willing to bear these burdens for us. He will not only carry these burdens, but He will also do the heavy lifting for us, and give us His Divine rest. Psalms 55:22
- God’s Promise of Love– As Jesus bears our burdens, He instructs us to also bear one another’s burdens; to love one another by lightening one another’s burdens. Galatians 6:2
LESSON OF THE DAY: Surrender and trust completely in The LORD, He is ready to exchange your worries and burdens with His Divine Peace. Proverbs 3: 5-6
