Wisdom Builds the House

Day: 24

Text: Proverbs 24

Introduction-

Have you ever wondered why the Bible says in all your getting, get wisdom? “In all your

Proverbs 24 gives the essential elements are we as Christians must have to build a strong life and a happy home. We can achieve this by being very cautious not to be influenced by the work of the wicked people. We must however be diligent not to be envious of evil people but rather have the spirit of contentment. No matter the situation, we can only realize true strength when we forge ahead and apply wisdom to build a secure, fruitful, and lasting Christian life.

Life Lessons

  1. Reject evil role models (v. 1-2). There is always the tendency to envy others because of their worldly possessions and fame but never stopped to ask about their relationship with God.
  1. Wisdom builds a house (v. 3-4, 13-14). The Lord God Almighty is the Master Planner and the Master Builder. We are made to understand that wisdom is more than just an intellectual knowledge. The total and divine wisdom is derived by searching the Scripture for directions on how to use the knowledge to accomplish practical things.
  1. Danger of laziness (v. 30-34) Everyone that is connected to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is expected to experience growth, especially spiritual growth. It is not hard to see that what Solomon is saying applies to our lives, too. God has given each of us a garden – our life, and we can plant good seeds or bad. We can make our life good, or we can make it bad. It is totally up to us.

 Life Applications.

  1. We must learn to reject evil role models as cited in verses 1-2.? First, we must pray for discernment so that we are not taken unawares by those that are walking in the ways of the Lord. We should not be envious of others but be content with the destiny that God Almighty has shaped for us individually. Romans 16:19 teaches us to discern from what it is good and what is pure evil. Philippians 2:15; Matthew 10:16
  1. So how can we apply wisdom to our lives that we may build a house that is full of precious and pleasant riches? (v 24:4). Here Solomon is encouraging us to fill our homes with spiritual treasures and not worldly treasures. While worldly treasures would leave our homes cold and empty, the spiritual treasures will fill our homes with warm and true life.
  1. We need to get rid of procrastination – as that will lead to ruin.s (v. 30-34). Accumulation of small, lazy choices can lead to ruin. We are called to be responsible and work with diligence. We must make sure that we are not wasting our God-given talents and potentials. We should endeavor to do our part and plant the seed of the Gospel in the hearts and lives others. Here at Christ Chapel, evangelism has been at the heart of what we do to restore lives and fulfill destinies.

Conclusion:

My encouragement for us all today is to look at those areas in our lives with broken walls, broken relationship, and broken promises. My question for you today is “which area of growth have you neglected that needs urgent attention?”

Key emphasis for today:

How deep should your roots go?
