Living Wisely

Living Wisely

Day: Three

Introduction-

Do you know that God promises physical well-being for those who live wisely according to his will? This means to respect and appreciate God for who He is and to show reverence and awe toward Him. Proverbs chapter 3 teaches us how to trust in God and His word so we can seek and act on His direction always.  This is the secret to a successful Christian living.

Life Lessons

  1. God is Trustworthy (v. 5-7)

We can trust God in all circumstances because He is omnipotent, He is love, and our ever-present help in times of trouble. God knows how weak and limited we are. Therefore, He wants us to depend on Him to direct our paths and guide us gently so we do not stumble.

  1. Our Possessions Belong to God (v. 9-10)

The Bible teaches us that everything we have belongs to God. So, we should be careful not to boast or exclude God while using the resources He has graciously given us. (1 Cor. 4:7). We are just managers (stewards) of God’s resources.

  1. Live Daily by Divine Wisdom (v. 13-18)

Our daily lives must be governed and directed by the wisdom of God. This offers many benefits that far exceed any material or financial profits. Some of the benefits of a life guided by God’s wisdom include long life, wealth, honor, peace and happiness. Living solely by worldly wisdom or human intellect leads to a life characterized by fear, frustration and failure to accomplish God’s purposes for your life. (See Psalm 1:1-4)

Life applications

  1. Since you know that God is trustworthy, you must look up to Him and trust Him to guide you in all your decision making. Do not think that you know it all. God knows the best path for us in every situation. You must therefore seek direction from the word of God and from godly counselors. Bring your decisions to God in prayer, use the Bible as your guide, then follow God’s leading. That way, you will not go astray or put yourself in trouble but rather enjoy His unlimited blessings.
  1. Knowing that all your possessions belong to God, the right attitude is to honor God with all your resources -money, houses, cars, health, etc. You can honor God with your resources by:
  1. Trusting God – see yourself as a steward – to direct how you use them.
  2. Giving the first and the best to God (Exod. 22:29).
  1. Sharing with others (Prov. 3:27-28)
  2. Giving generously
  3. Expressing gratitude to God for all He gives you.

The outcome of such faithfulness in honoring God with your resources is His blessing of prosperity and satisfaction.

  1. In order to live by divine wisdom, you must prayerfully ask God for wisdom (James 1:5). Read and study God’s word as the primary source of truth and wisdom. Align your decisions to Bible principles. Finally, cultivate and practice godly qualities such as humility, love, forgiveness, kindness, and patience. In other words, let your life reflect God’s nature (2 Pet. 1:4)

Key word of the Day – The pathway to experience God’s peace and satisfaction is to trust Him always in all circumstances, honor Him with all your possessions, and continually walk in His wisdom.
