Memory Verse: … “Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you – Psalm 37:5 (NLT).
Text: Ephesians 5:10-20
Spiritual Emphasis: Life is about decision making and these decisions are driven by choices, motivations, needs, fear, satisfaction, desires and faith. Time is a gift from God, and none of us know how much of it we are allotted. Only God knows how much time each of us has on this earth to make decisions that will impact eternity. Use your time wisely. Depend on the Holy Spirit, our helper to always make wise decision that will always please God. In this series, we will learn some daily lessons for making wise decisions that please God.
Daniel’s Decision –
- Choose to glorify and honor God always: God is pleased with us when our decision honor and glorify Him. Daniel and his friends demonstrated their faithfulness to God and reverence fear and God made it possible for them to succeed, granted them favor, blessed them with wisdom, intelligence, made them great, and made a way for them. Don’t be intimidated to identify yourself as a Christian. Don’t be afraid to say no to your friends when their plans, actions and decisions are bad and do not glorify God. Obedience and faithfulness to God are what will make us succeed in life – Dan. 1:17; Prov. 9:10; Prov. 1:7; Psalm 139:2; Jer. 12:3; Dan. 1:8-9.
Questions/Reflections: Do my decision and actions glorify/honor God? Is my decision based on scripture? Will my decision make God happy or what will Jesus do? Or will my decision make me like Daniel? Have I thought through my decisions and have I sought counsel and guidance from God, pastor, parents, teacher and friends? (Prov. 11:14). (Seek to understand the consequences of your decisions and actions before going ahead with them. Learn to depend on God and seek to do His will and you shall prosper).
Conclusion:
We only have one life on earth. At the end can we say without any reservation, retreat or regrets, I have fulfilled my calling, the plans and dreams God has for me? (2 Tim. 4:7-8). Brethren, let us get busy for the Lord. Whatever gift or talent you have, begin to use it for the Lord. You want to live every day without reservations, without retreating from the cause, and with no regrets when you’re finished. It is in so doing, that we will all enjoy God’s blessings and favor in Jesus name Amen.
