The Parable Of The Fig Tree

The Parable Of The Fig Tree

Day:    38

Text:  Luke 21:29-31

Introduction- The parable of the Fig Tree teaches about faith, repentance, and fulfilling our purpose in life by bearing fruit. Our Lord Jesus used this parable to emphasize that just as our time on earth is not permanent, we must also understand that God’s patience also has a limit. Just like the compassionate gardener pours more water and fertilizer into the fig tree, still not fruit. The same way Our Lord Jesus has been interceding for us in various ways.

Life Lessons

  1. God is patient and willing to give us second chances (Luke 13: 6-9)
  2. Rely on our Lord Jesus for strength (Psalm 1:3; Jeremiah 17:7-8)
  3. The Lord Jesus do not like false appearances (Mark 11:12-25; Romans 9:4-5)

Life Applications

  1. Abide in the Lord Jesus Christ (John 15:1-11)
  2. Be thou fruitful even as thou faithful (Gen 1:27-28)
  3. Grow in the knowledge of the Lord (1 Corinthians 3:6-8; Leviticus 26:3-4; Hebrews 12:11)

Lesson of the Day:

My brethren, we serve a merciful God, who has given us freely His son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to stand in gap for us. Indeed, the God we serve is patient and kind, but we must not take that for granted. The prophet Isaiah urges in Isaiah 55:6-7 to “seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.” The Lord commands His to repent that they may bear fruit. We all need to be ready for the end times. Let us live our lives as the Lord intended that we may be blessed.
