Day: 32
Text: Lk 14: 16-24
Introduction-
The invitation to the banquet in this parable is basically a portrayal of the invitation into the kingdom of God, which happens when the gospel is preached to us.
This parable references different types circumstances/ excuses people have when the gospel is presented to them. However a very important point that should be noted is that the gospel is for everyone.
We all need to see this as a cautionary parable for us all so we do not miss out from the kingdom of God.
Life Lessons–
The excuses presented for rejecting the gospel can be categorized into 3 groups:
Our possessions,
Our livelihood ( i.e. our profession/jobs) and
Our familial relationships.
Note: Matt 16(26)
All humanity has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God Rm 3(23)
God’s love, grace and mercy brings us back to Him Jn 3(16), Eph 2(8-9) & 2Cor 4(1)
Life applications-
What to do?
No matter your circumstance, situation or engagements the call to salvation is for everyone. So when the gospel is presented you must receive it. Is 1(18)
The good news/ gospel has to be preached to the whole world before the world can come to an end. Matt 24(14)
Also from this parable we see that God does not care what creed, tribe or disposition you have, He is calling everyone to His kingdom. You are invited. Rev 7(9).
This is the cautionary part of this parable Lk 14(24). We must do all we can to make it into the banquet because the alternative is too dangerous to imagine. Rev 20(15)
Regardless of what stage you are in your relationship with God there is room for you in His kingdom do not waste any more time, come in Today. Heb 3(12)
And for those who are already in the kingdom we need to make sure we do all we can to stand firm so we make it to the very end.
1 Cor 10(12)
I end with Heb 3(13-15)
