Day: 21
Text: Mark 4: 26 -29
Introduction- Today we will discuss the parable of the growing seed, not to be confused with the parable of the Sower which is taken from the book of Matthew 13. We covered this parable on Day 3 of our series. If you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to do so. The parable of the growing seed is taken from the book of Mark 4:26-29, the only parable you cannot find in another book of the bible, and the 3rd parable of Mark’s gospel.
Let us start from the basics and understand the definition and the purpose of a parable. Parables are used to illustrate moral or spiritual lessons. A teaching if you will but remember that there’s always a lesson to be learnt… let’s get started.
Life Lessons– Similar to the parable of the Sower, however this parable is a call to action, a call to task and a parable of an assignment.
Life applications: Let’s simplify this into 3 categories
- The Sower – Teachers, pastors, evangelist, preacher etc.
- The Seed – The word of God
- The Soil – Those who hear the word of God
Lesson of the Day: 3 life lessons
- Faith
- Productivity
- Patience
