Parable of the Wandering Sheep

Day: 11

Text: Matthew 18:12-14

Introduction-

 The parable of the wandering sheep is a deep demonstration of God’s extraordinary love, compassion and forgiveness toward us all. Emphasizing that God deeply values each individual and will actively seek out those who are lost, demonstrating his immense love and desire for everyone to be found and brought back to the fold. Ezekiel 34:11-16, Micah 7:18

Life Lessons

1.The Shepherd Love for all Sheep.

    The shepherd didn’t disregard the 99 sheep that are safe, but his focus is on finding the one that is lost, illustrating that God care deeply about every individual regardless of their current situation. John 10:11-14, Ezekiel 34:30-31.

2. The acts of searching.

        The shepherd actively goes out to search for lost sheep, showing that God is not passive in seeking out those who are straying. Ezekiel 34:11, 1Peter 2:25.

3. The joy of finding the lost sheep.

       When shepherd finds the lost sheep, he rejoices greatly, signifying the immense happiness God experience when someone return to HIM. Luke 15:5,

Life applications

1.Reach out to the lost.

    We are encouraged to be proactive in reaching out to those who are struggling or drifting away from their faith, offering support and encouragement. Luke 19:10, mark 16:15-16

2. The shepherd carries the lost

 The shepherd does not punish the sheep, nor does the shepherd even make the sheep to   walk back. Rather he places the sheep on his shoulders and carries him back to the flock.  In the time of weariness in the journey, we can trust Jesus to help us carry our burdens. Psalm 55:22, Matthew 11:28-29.

3. Celebrates restoration.

 There is rejoicing when we return to God or make a positive change in their life. Reflecting God’s joy at seeing people coming back to him. Joel 2:25-26, Amos 9:14.

4. Humility and services

Just like the shepherd must be willing to put in the necessary efforts to bring others back to the flock even if it requires personal sacrifice. Micah 6:7, proverb 22:4

Lesson of the Day

  Please take time to consider if there is someone in your life who might be feeling lost or alone and actively reach out to them with compassion and support. Mirroring the shepherd relentless pursuit of the wandering sheep.
