Text: Luke 13:20-21.
Introduction-
To get the most out of this parable there are certain things we need to understand
What is yeast?
Yeast can be described as a leavening agent used in baking.
What does it do to dough?
It is used in dough or batter to make it rise. It permeates and modifies or transforms the dough for the better.
Why is it necessary to put it in dough when baking?
It helps the dough to rise, it adds depth of flavor and gives it texture as well.
AND
What is the kingdom of God
The Bible tell us in Rom 14(17)
Life Lessons–
The kingdom of God (like yeast) starts small in the hearts of men and has the capacity to grow gradually to become something great if it is handled properly.
The kingdom of God is alive.
The kingdom of God has the capacity to transform anyone.
The kingdom of God takes time and patience.
The parable teaches that the kingdom of God is a gift from God as salvation is by grace and not by works. Eph 2(8-9)
Life applications
We have to receive the kingdom of God wholeheartedly as a little child. Mark 10(15)
We must allow it permeate all areas of our lives by the renewing of our minds. Rm 12(1-2)
We must make sure our hearts and lives are conducive surrounding circumstances to bring out the utmost best of what the kingdom of God can be in our lives. Heb 10(22)
Lesson of the Day
So in conclusion the question we need to ask ourselves -am I a good baker of the kingdom of God?
We need to constantly check ourselves if we are still in the faith and walking in step with the Spirit of God. Gal 5(25) And 2nd Cor 13(5)
