Memory Verse: But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him – Hebrews 11:6 (AMP).
Spiritual Emphasis: Faith isn’t static state, it’s a dynamic force – a powerful energy that propels us forward, allowing us to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and trust in God. In this series, we will explore the “dynamics of faith.” How it works actively within us, shaping our everyday actions and transforming our lives to the glory of God.
Text: Hebrews 11:1-40 (The Faith Chapter)
Faith – Introduction
- Kinds of Faith: We often think of faith in a generic way and assume that faith is the same for everyone. But the Bible speaks of different kinds of faith – Here are some examples:
- There is a faith that walks on water – Matt.14:28
- There is a faith that moves mountains – Mark 11:22-25
- There is a saving faith – Romans 10:9-10.
- There is a sincere/genuine faith – 2 Tim.1:5
- There is a faith that produces good works – James 2:20-26
- There is a dead faith – James 2:26
- There is a faith that is little – Matt. 8:26
- There is a faith for healing – Matt. 9:2; Acts 14:8-10.
- There is a faith that does not endure – Luke 8:13
- There is a faith that is great – Romans 4:20; Matt. 8:8-10.
Question: What kind of faith do you have?
Conclusion
Faith’s power does not rest in knowledge, religion, or good works. Faith is not trying harder or being nicer. Faith works when we stop playing it safe, when we throw away our little cup, and when we, with uncertain steps, take the risk and come running to Jesus with a bucket. He fills it to the top every time. But the key is to come running to Jesus all the time, and never take your eyes off Him.
Shalom!
