The Marriage Feast of the Lamb

Memory Verse: “’Then the angel said to me, “Write, ‘ Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’ ” And he said to me [further], “These are the true and exact words of God.” – Revelation 19:9 (AMP).

Text: Revelation 19: 1-10. 

Scriptural Emphasis: Making living a life pleasing and worthy of God’s total approval our Christian goal. 

  1. Description of the Marriage Feast of the Lamb.
  • As the name connotes it’s a feast between the Lamb (Jesus) and the Bride (The Church). It is also known as Marriage Supper of The Lamb –  Vs 9.
  • It is a moment, period and season of joy, celebration and appreciation. God will honor and reward Jesus and all believers in God through Christ Jesus – Vs. 7
  • It will take place in heaven after the rapture of the Church, and in attendance will be Old Testament saints, all heavenly bodies and dignitaries and all who are in Christ –  Vs. 1; Matthew 8:11.
  • It will be the beginning of a never-ending union between God, Christ and His people –  John 14:3 

Question: Why in your opinion is God waiting for so long for the second coming of Jesus? 

  1. The Purpose of the Marriage Feast of the Lamb. 
  • The main purpose is the eternal union of the groom (Jesus) and the bride (the Church) –  Vs 7, Eph. 5:27.
  • Its other purpose is to compliment and reward all believers that constitute the church for their endurance and righteous living –  Vs 8.
  • It will also commence the final judgment of God on humans. God’s judgment starts with His own people –  1 Pet. 4:17. 
  • It is to demonstrate the faithfulness and fairness of God –  Vs. 2

Question: Can you name a few reasons a Christian might miss this glorious feast? Give advice on how you plan to be present at this wedding feast.

Conclusion

It’s reassuring to read and understand that God is not an unfaithful God. He will be faithful to His long-pronounced promise that everyone who accepts His invitation through Jesus will spend eternity in His presence. Let’s look forward to this glorious season of celebration and rejoicing by living a life worthy of our calling and election. Always remember what the scriptures state in Matthew 22:14; “Many are invited, but only a few are chosen” (CEV).
