The Concept of Heaven and Hell

The Concept of Heaven and Hell

Memory Verse: “Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on the things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. – Colossians 3:2 (AMP).

Text: Revelation 14:1-12.

Spiritual Emphasis: Everyone has a choice between two destinations, life, or death, Deu. 30:19. From the very day man fell from Grace, eternity was set in motion by God for all humanity. God in all ages has shown Man the way to Salvation, John 3:16-17, but Man has always chosen for himself his own choice of way, Gen. 3:1-6.

      Basic Concept of Heaven

  • Heaven is a real place where God really resides – John 14:1-3; Isa.66:1; Gen. 28:17; 2 Corinthians 12:1-4.
  • Heaven is a place reserved for believers to rest while God reframed the earth – Rev.14:13.
  • Heaven is a place believers will receive rewards for living for God – 2 Corinthians.5:10.
  • Heaven is a place every believer must desire to be with the Lord – Col. 3:2; Phil.3:20.

Question: What is your most convincing reason heaven is a real place?

 Basic Concept of Hell

  • Hell is a real place originally designed for the devil – Matthew 25: 41; Revelation. 20:1-15; Matthew 10:28.
  • Hell is a place of eternal separation from the presence, goodness, and mercies of God – 2 Thess. 1:8-9; Luke 16:22-23.
  • Hell is a place of regret for refusing Jesus, of torment for not living for God and a place of judgment for not believing in God – Rev.20:15; Rev. 21:8; Matt.13:15.
  • Hell is a place every believer should be mindful to avoid – Matt. 5:29; Rom.6:23.

Question:  Why do some people not believe in hell?

Conclusion:

Every Christian must be mindful of life after death on earth. Nothing is lost when we live to make heaven while living on earth. Even though hell is the default destination for anyone that is opposed to God, God wants everyone to live with Him in heaven. God has chosen and prepared the path to heaven through Jesus Christ, the choice to walk the part is yours.

Shalom!
