Memory Verse: … ” Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. – Ephesians 3:20. (NLT).
Text: Matthew 13:3-9
Spiritual Emphasis: Potential is how far you can go, not alone, but with God. We are all called to do amazing things for God. Hence our full potential includes everything that God has planned for our lives. Let’s not limit God but surrender our wills to him and let Him do in and through us whatever He has planned for us to do.
Fulfilling Your God Given Potential
- Put down roots: The highs of spiritual experiences are very important, but if they are not combined with deep spiritual roots there is the danger of shallowness, which can lead to falling away. Be aware of this pitfall. We can fall away in our hearts even while we are doing the right things. Your spiritual roots are the parts of your life that no one else sees – your secret life with God. This includes your prayers, your giving, your passion for souls and your thought life. If you want to fulfil your potential make sure you develop deep, strong, and healthy roots in your relationship with God – Matthew 13:6,21; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17; Luke 6:38; Proverbs 19:17; Proverbs 11:30.
- Protect your heart: Guard your heart. It is so easy to get distracted by the busyness of life. Remain focus on God, then He will guard you to fulfil your potential – Matthew 13:7.22; Romans 12:2; Hebrews 12:2; Proverbs 4:23; Joshua 1:8-9; 1 Peter 5:8-9.
Questions/Activities: What does the Bible mean by protecting your heart?
Conclusion. The potential for every human being is great. Jesus wants you to live a highly productive life. He wants you to produce ‘a crop – hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown’. The minimum is thirty-times multiplication. The key to that lies in your relationship with Jesus – a relationship that can be as close as that of a brother or sister or mother. You can live a life of real purpose that will make a difference to the world, because of what you receive from Him. Note, your potential is not about being driven by ambition or success; it is about recognizing who you are in Christ. As you seek Him and live your life according to His purpose, you will bear much fruit.
Shalom!
