What does Jesus say about the love of Money

What does Jesus say about the love of Money
Day 31

Topic: What does Jesus say about the love of Money.

Text: Matt 6:19-24

Introduction:

At the heart of Christianity lies the premise that God created everything, and it ultimately belongs to Him. Human beings exist as stewards (or managers) of God’s resources-this includes our money. Stewardship isn’t just an aspect of the Christian life; it is the whole of the Christian life.

For many of us, the struggle to align ourselves with God’s will is played out in the realm of our finances. It’s where the real battle happens for so many. As Martin Luther said, “There are three conversions necessary: the conversion of the heart, the conversion of the mind, and the conversion of the purse.”

Jesus talks about money because when we truly understand our roles as stewards, money is a tool we can invest into growing His kingdom.

LIFE LESSONS

  •  You Cannot Serve two Masters: To Jesus, money almost operates as a rival god who challenges our allegiance (Matthew 6:24). The truth is that the god money invites us to worship is really ourselves as we indulge in our own comfort and pleasure.

  • Know Where your Treasure is: Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).

  • Godliness with Contentment is great gain 1Tim 6:2-10

Contentment means to be happy with what you have, who you are, and where you are. It is respecting the reality of the present. It is appreciating what you do have and where you are in life. Contentment does not mean the absence of desire; it just means you are satisfied with your present, and you trust that the turns your life takes will be for the best.

Attributes of Contentment

– Satisfaction

– Lack of Envy

– Humility

– Discipline

– Abhorrence of greed and corruption
