What Jesus says about Our Helper

What Jesus says about Our Helper
Day 3

Text: John 14:26

Time: 6:30pm – 7:00pm (30 minutes).

Introduction

Help means to do something by offering one’s services or resources. It also means to assist and aid a person.

Jesus says in John 14 v 26 that the Father will send the Holy Spirit to help us. As believers God’s help is the best kind of help, we can ever receive on the face of the earth. We have a God who is never tired of helping us, he is changeless, and He is limitless. As his children we must ask for his help daily, psalm 121 v 1 says “I look up to the hill where does my help come from?” Believers our help comes from God alone, man is limited, man will fail you.

Life Lesson in securing God’s Help

  1. Humility– is the key in securing God’s help, 1 Pet. 5:6, to receive help from God you must come to the end of self and cry to him for his undeserved help. It is his help that can take a man from the prison to the palace, ask Joseph.
  2. Intense prayer– Heb 4:16, Acts 26:22, continuity is impossible without the help of God, in the place of prayer lives are transformed and destinies are changed. When we fail to take our inheritance in Christ Jesus as believer, unbelievers will take it as seen in Matt 15:26.
  3. Faith– Heb. 11:1, 6. As believers when we ask God for help, we must ask in faith.

Life Application

Believers asking for God’s help is an act of brave humility, a confession that these human bodies and minds that we inhabit are frail and imperfect. Isa 22:11, believing we can do everything leads to failure.

One major hindrance we have in seeking God’s help is Pride. The mentality that people will mock me or know my secret has kept many believers in poverty and lack. “A problem shared is half solved”. We go before God feeling all pompous. God send people our Way to help us, but we want to choose who God will send for our use.

Believers asking for help doesn’t mean you’re weak but means you are strong and wise.
